Important things to consider before buying a car

Buying a car is a dream come true for  many people and is a big achievement. So if you are looking for one, congratulations on this big step!

We know choosing the right car is not easy for most people, especially if you are not a car pro or enthusiast. With hundreds of models to choose from, where do you even start? You may have your dream car  in mind, but your budget might not agree. Do you buy a car locally or import one from Japan? These are some of the decisions you will have to make.

Luckily, you don’t have to do this alone.Carhoot is here to guide you on the most important things to look for when buying your car

Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself before you make that decision

Does it fit my needs?

This question is important because it helps you to decide on what car you want.

Do you want a car to move you from point A to B, or do you want a family car? Or perhaps you want a car for business. You need to know why you want the car so that you can make the best decision that will meet your needs.

Do you want a new/used car

After you have narrowed down on what you want and you are comfortable with its pros and cons, now you can decide whether you want a new car or a used one.

If you choose to import a new one you have to consider all the costs that come with it and if you can afford it. Importing a car takes about two months so you have to be a bit patient.

If you decide on buying a used one there are a lot of things you need to confirm too. Check the Mileage to avoid getting a really old car and have the car inspected to avoid getting junk. It’s also important to Cross reference the ownership  details just to be sure the car belongs to the person selling you the car. Remember this is Kenya, and you can get conned properly😂

What is my budget?

Your budget may be the most important factor to consider when buying your first car.

How much do you want to spend, and where is it coming from? Are you buying it from your savings, a bank loan, or a combination of both? You may find it more practical to set a budget range and then decide on an acceptable vehicle within that range. We all have that dream car that we would want but may not afford as a first car. After evaluating your needs, income and expenses that will come with that car, you will develop a logical budget for a vehicle.

Are the Spare parts available locally?

It will be less stressful when you choose a car model that has spare parts that are available locally. Buying a car should be fun and not stressful. Cars with available spares are easy to maintain.

Fuel Consumption

With the rise of fuel prices rising every now and then in our country, it’s important to get a car that offers you good fuel economy. After all you don’t  want a car that will drain you financially.
